The Virginia Primary Care Office (PCO) is preparing for the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) national update of Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), scheduled for September 2025. This includes extensive use of the federal Shortage Designation Management System (SDMS) to edit contiguous areas and census tract boundaries that changed during the 2020 Decennial Census, update and attest provider location data, and assist Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) with their concurrent update.
